  • Phase 1 – meetings and getting to Faculty Senate Approval for CEREO 2004 - 4/2006
  • Phase 2 – startup for CEREO under Dr. Emmett Fiske, July 2006 – July 2007
  • Phase 3 – bringing the startup to fruition, August 2007 –
  • Phase 4 – a permanent full time director with permanent funding - ?

CEREO MEETINGS:

  • Biweekly
  • Visit by director to each campus – Fall term 2007
  • Meet with departments across the system
  • Meet with President Floyd/Vice President Gardner regarding CEREO

Major CEREO Goals for academic year 2007-2008:

  • Engage CEREO member faculty across the system
    • Letter from GHM to each member faculty – Sept 2007
    • Regular updates of CEREO status and progress to all participating faculty
    • Director to visit each campus and give science and CEREO talks
    • CEREO seminar series
    • Research workshops – system wide related to CEREO research themes in anticipation of and in response to funding opportunities
    • A world-class web site – a prime means of communication
  • Website – complete development as our primary contact point with the outside world
    • CEREO activities and department/center environmental seminars
    • Research opportunities
    • Contacts
  • REO committees – formulate ideas and make and execute specific plans
    • R - Facilitate high quality environmental research and collaboration across the WSU system
    • Organize workshops on major research opportunities related to CEREO themes in anticipation of and in response to funding opportunities
      • Provide CEREO leadership in environmental research to the WSU community
      • Produce major research proposals to funding agencies/foundations
    • E - Facilitate coordination of educational activities across the WSU system including curricula and research
      • WSU environmental roadmap
      • Statewide educational and research opportunities K-12
      • Education workshops
    • O - Promotion of productive relationships and coordination of opportunities for active collaboration with relevant outside agencies and organizations
      • Define and participate in outreach activities across the state
